‘We Didn’t Bow to Pressure’, Presidency Speaks on Travel Ban Placed on 13 Hotspot Coronavirus Countries

It is no longer news that the Federal Government has placed travel restriction on 13 Hotspot Coronavirus Countries, but the Presidency has said it was not under pressure to do so.

Many had been calling for travel restrictions on those countries in order to curtail the spread of the virus as the case continue to be on the rise. Europe is now the epicenter of the virus that emanated from Wuhan, China.

The countries the restrictions are placed on include China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, Norway, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, and Switzerland.

The Federal Government has also announced the suspension of Visa on Arrival until further notice over the pandemic virus. The government has also earlier in the day ordered the immediate closure of the ongoing National Youth Corps Service (NYSC) orientation camps nationwide.

Reacting to a report claiming that the Federal Government bowed to pressure, the Personal Assitant to the President on Digital Media, Bashir Ahmad said placing a travel ban is beyond just a mere announcement.
