What Peter Obi Told Me After I Told Him I Support Tinubu

Ahead of the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has appealed to qualified residents of the State not to only register, but ensure that they vote.

Dr. Obasa gave this advice on Thursday at the 8th Annual Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting held simultaneously by lawmakers across the State.

This was as Mr. Felix Daramola, head of electoral operations at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), lamented what he described as very poor outings by voters in the State during elections.

Addressing stakeholders in his Agege Constituency 1, Speaker Obasa noted that the theme of the stakeholders’ meeting, ‘2023 General Elections: The Imperatives of Permanent Voters’ Cards’, was very apt as the nation matches towards the elections.

Commending the constituents for
being responsive to matters affecting their
communities and the State at all times, the Speaker lamented: “It is, however, quite worrisome that over 20 million Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) still remain uncollected across the nation according to a recent INEC report and out of this huge figure, one million are from Lagos State.

“This situation does not augur well for our progress, our democracy and the development of the State as it may create an opportunity for incompetent persons to be elected as our leaders and representatives and thus overturn our achievements.

“As you know, Lagos State has been so blessed
with great and visionary leaders and
representatives right from the Second Republic in 1979 when Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande came on board as the first civilian governor, supported by a vibrant House of Assembly, and most significantly from 1999 in the Fourth Republic with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu not just emerging as the governor of Lagos State but revered as the architect of modern day Lagos.

A High Court in Kano State has issued an ex parte order, restraining the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, from acting as the National Chairman and member of the party.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that the court ruled that Ganduje should refrain from presiding over the affairs of the National Working Committee of the party, pending the determination of the substituted motion of his suspension.

The order was granted by Justice Usman Malam Na’abba on Wednesday, following an ex parte motion filed by Dr Ibrahim Sa’ad, on behalf of two executive members of Ganduje’s ward in Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area. The plaintiffs were part of the nine ward executives who suspended Ganduje.

The court also directed the APC NWC, APC Kano State Working Committee (KSWC), and Ganduje, to maintain the status quo ante bellum as of 15th April 2024, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit on 30th April 2024.

The court further held that the State Working Committee must not interfere with the legally and validly considered decision of the executives of Ganduje’s ward, essentially on action endorsed by a third majority of the executives as provided by the party constitution.

Nigeria To Get 20000bdp Oil From OML 85 Oil Platform – NNPC

Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and its Joint Venture partner, First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited (First E&P), aim to achieve an average oil production of 20,000 barrels per day on the new OML 85 platform in Bayelsa State.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that the spokesperson for NNPC, Olufemi Soneye, confirmed this in a statement on Friday, 19 March, 2024.

He stated that this achievement reflects the dedication of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to enhance production from the country’s oil and gas assets by creating a favorable environment for both current and future investors.

Soneye mentioned that oil produced from the OML 85 platform, also known as the Madu Field, will be processed at the joint venture’s Abigail-Joseph Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit, which can store up to 800,000 barrels of crude oil.

He pointed out that the Final Investment Decision (FID) for the development of the Madu Field and its adjacent field, Anyala, was made by the NNPC Ltd./First E&P Joint Venture in 2018.

“The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and its Joint Venture partner in OML 85, First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited (First E&P), have commenced oil production from the asset, also known as Madu Field.

“Production from the field which is located in shallow waters offshore Bayelsa State and operated by First E&P is expected to be at an average of 20,000 barrels per day.

“The achievement is a testament to the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu administration to optimise production from the nation’s oil and gas assets through the provision of an enabling environment for existing and prospective investors,” Soneye said.
