The Abuja Park and Zoo was indeed filled with fun and excitement last weekend as the Sam’s Empowerment Foundation led over 500 orphans and vulnerable children to the park.
The outing, the foundation said was to avail the children the opportunity to feel the merriment and excitement that comes with the Christmas celebration as most of them never had such an opportunity.
The children were drawn from the Alpha and Omega orphanage, IDP camp in New Kunchigoro and a community in Baokpe, an interior community in Kuje Area Council.
Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator of the Foundation, Kiema Ogulano, said they actually carry out intervention programmes for the children including educational and medical intervention.
She said the foundation presently has about 200 of the children under its scholarship scheme while it is hoping to increase the number to 1000 by next year.
