10 fighters set to clash at OFU 2 Fight Night in Lagos –

Organisers of the One Fight Ultimate (OFU) Fight Night Saturday said that no fewer than 10 fighters are set to compete for honours at the incoming event.

The OFU President, Chief Ifeobi Udo told a press conference to herald the event – OFU 2 coming up today, Sunday, April 16, expressing confidence in organising an entertaining show.

He urged lovers of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) to come out in numbers and experience what he sees as the mother of shows in the Nigerian sports entertainment as regards to combat sports.

“We are very excited to once again put our funds in what we believe would thrill fans and lovers of the mixed martial arts.

“We believe a lot of young and inspiring fighters in Nigeria can one day reach the world stage if we keep encouraging them by investing in shows like this to promote the sport.

“I’m confident the fighters are mentally prepared to give a good account of themselves as the venue is more than enough to spur them to perform at top level,” Chief Udo said.

ECOWAS Sends 40 Observers to Togo for Election Monitoring

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, has deployed 40 observers to Togo for its forthcoming parliamentary and regional elections.

This was contained in a statement which disclosed that the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr Omar Alieu Touray deployed the observers for the April 29th elections, in line with the provisions of Article 12 of the ECOWAS Supplementary Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance.

The mission is led by Vice-President of The Gambia, Mrs Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang as they aim to galvanize support from the regional organisation to its Member States for the conduct of their elections

The statement reads in part:

“The mission is made up of Ambassadors from Member States accredited to ECOWAS; representatives of the ECOWAS Court of Justice and Parliament; Civil Society Organisations; media professionals and election observation specialists from the West African region.
This observation mission is being deployed following the recommendations of a pre-election fact-finding mission that visited Togo from 15 to 20 April 2024 to assess the preparatory phases of the elections.”
