Latest Politics updatein nigeria

Lifestyle Nigeria gathered that the Former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has recently opened up about his impeachment, the state’s politics, godfatherism and the contentious issue of the campaign vehicles in his position.

In an exclusive interview with The PUNCH, Shaibu, who had previously accused Governor Godwin Obaseki of orchestrating his impeachment, revealed that he has forgiven the governor and is ready to reconcile with him.

How Govt Have Been Convening Meetings Over My Matter, Call Me Names– Peter Obi (Update)

Latest Politics updatein nigeria

Lifestyle Nigeria gathered that Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi, has alleged that some agencies of the government are now calling him names and organizing town hall meetings over his matter.

Obi, however, said the development does not bother him, adding that many people would be shocked if they knew what he goes through everyday.

The former Anambra State governor made the statement on Friday in Canada while responding to questions about the last general election in nigeria.

“If I tell people, and I say it every day what I go through, you will ask me why am I in this thing. You will ask me why am I still doing this; who do you still have to bother? But I’m in it. Every now and then you see various agencies of government, tools of government, even when I am not running any election, calling me names every day. They now organize town hall meetings just for me. No problem. It doesn’t bother me. Let’s keep doing what we were doing. We did well. And we should be proud of it and continue in that trajectory”.

The LP’s presidential candidate was in Canada for a “thank you” tour to appreciate Nigerians living in the country for the support offered him during the 2023 campaign/ general elections.

Presidency Claims Nigerians’ Spending Power Has Improved

Latest Politics updatein nigeria

Ajuri-Ngelale-Tinubu-Presidency

The Presidency has stated that Nigerians have experienced a significant increase in their spending power in the past months.

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, made this claim during an interview with TVC, on Friday as he discussed the performance of the Nigerian naira in relation to the US dollar.

When asked about the scepticism expressed by some Nigerians who would say they are yet to see the gains for the pains they have endured due to the reforms carried out by the President, Ngelale said, “I think that that is something that could have been said perhaps two months ago.

“I think that is less the case now when you consider the fact that Nigerians have borne witness that the spending power of Nigerians has substantially increased over the course of the last one month plus, given the reforms that have been put in place by this administration, even within the Central Bank of nigeria.

“Nigerians are recognising that there is a level of stability. Not just strength. It’s one thing to bring strength to the currency, and it’s another thing entirely to bring stability to the currency. To not have it fluctuating so dramatically up and down obviously enables Nigerians to effectively plan.”
