Coming2America, Buhari\’s Vaccination And Other Events That Took Place In The Weekend

1. Hollywood’s Eddie Murphy commanded a global attention on Friday 5th March as a sequel to his 1988 movie, Coming To America premiered. IMax Cinemas, Lagos saw the presence of KOKO TV Nigeria, many celebrities elegantly and royally dressed and glamour as they all gathered for the 33 year apart rom-com film showed. The social media space was not left out with hashtags #Coming2America trending for over 2 days. The guest appearance made by Davido in the movie, as well the music of Nigerian act like Burna Boy in the movie made it more talked about. The weekend sure started on a sweet, high and positive mood.
2. While Nigerians are savouring the movie, an OAP present at the event, Henry Sklue took to his Instagram page to call out BBNaija reality star Neo for snubbing and rejecting an interview with him. Dragging Vee into the drama, Henry Sklue said she is someone who doesn’t know what is wrong with her. Both Neo and Vee didn’t let the call out slide but rather, Vee slammed Henry Sklue, describing his act and unprofessional and asked his media to call him to order. Neo on the other hand, said the OAP would have been wired some slaps if he were his former self.

3. Free The Sheeple convener and anti-Nigerian clergies, Daddy Freeze’s name got into the trends on Saturday evening as he had been fined the sum of 5 million naira by a Nigerian court for committing adultery – sleeping with a married woman. The woman’s husband had, in the stead of fighting, took the OAP to court and got him slammed the whooping amount. Daddy Freeze, however, insists he did not sleep with another man’s wife in a video he put out on his YouTube page and several other social media replies.

After many months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds and milliseconds of waiting for the COVID-19 vaccines to be supplied to Nigeria, the AstraZeneca vaccine finally landed in the nation on Tuesday and on Saturday, President Buhari and his top officials got their doses during the weekend on live TV. Nigeria’s pleas and hopes are however, that these vaccines do not get to be hoarded like the COVID-19 palliatives.

5. As this took place, rumours broke that the Federal Government will be spending 10.6bn naira to transport the COVID-19 vaccine to the states of the nation. Nollywood actress Sotayo Sobola also though this weekend was the perfect time to let us all into her marriage as she shared her wedding pictures, noting however, that her she had gotten married secretly and is only sharing the pictures. 7. Up and coming Nigerian act Bharry Jay has been arrested for the death of his record label boss, Kashy Godson. Bharry and Kashy had reportedly had a fight and the latter died after that, reportedly committing suicide in the early hours of Sunday in Accra, Ghana. A video of Barry Jhay showed Barry with a bloodied mouth after he and Kashy Godson got into a fight and he was chased out of the house in Ghana last night with badly battered mouth injuries.
His brother, Rina, however, insists that his brother was rather killed than taking his own life as he was wearing shoes till his death. He further sent out some texts on his WhatsApp stating some items his brother gave his act, and threatened Bharry for an end.8. Goodluck Jonathan’s Power Minister Mohammed Wakil has been arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC in his Abuja residence for financial mismanagement involving the Power Holding Company of Nigeria. the former minister “will be arraigned in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on Monday” over some alleged fraudulent payments involving the PHCN. The anti-corruption agency had in 2020 arraigned Wakil and four others at the Federal High Court, Maiduguri, Borno State, for another case of an alleged collection of $115 million from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to prosecute the 2015 general elections.
9. Celebrity fashion designer Toyin Lawani has dropped a bombshell that Nigerians are finding quite hard to believe. In a video shared on her Instagram page, the business mogul spoke about her going nude, saying she doesn’t like to expose her body nor like wear short things. She is quite famed for regularly sharing nude photos and nude photoshoots which usually raised eyebrows in the past amongst many of her fans.10. On the final note for the weekend, Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State lambasted Former Governor of Lagos State and the National leader of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Tinubu. According to him, the affairs of Lagos State started going in the wrong direction since Tinubu took control of the state in 1999.
