The past weekend was one with a lot of events – from the allegations laid against the Feminist Coalition, their surprising financial report to the 63rd prestigious Grammys awards. Here are the top events of the weekend.
1. Feminist Coalition, the group which oversaw the welfarism and financial donations during the #EndSARS protests had been dragged by the wigs of its members for secretly moving $51,000 from the BTC donations account. A tweep had checked the account and raised an alarm when he discovered the transaction, leading to the drags the group got. In return, FemCo gave an explanation of the transaction and a more detailed report of how the donations were spent different from what it gave in 2020, only for more accusations to arise.
2. The People’s Democratic Party attacked the Presidency gruesomely over the reported hike in fuel price and the $1bn arm funds which went missing under the former Service Chiefs administration. In its first statement on the hike, the major opposition party said fuel in the country should not sell above 70 naira and the Government should not just push Nigerians beyond their coping limits. In another statement on the funds, PDP accused the APC and Buhari-led administration have swindled Nigeria. Meanwhile, the former Chief of Army Staff General Tukur Buratai, who spoke through his lawyer Osuagwu Ugochukwu on Friday denied the allegation.
3. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army, on Saturday prided itself in salvaging another kidnap situation at the Turkish International College in Kaduna, following the abduction of students of the Federal College of Forest Mechanisation, Akafa-Kaduna. Not only did the Army said it stopped the abduction but also rescued about 180 students of the college. In a statement released by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, the army was said to have acted on a tip that bandits were going to carry out the ugly operation at the international school and had mobilised the troops of the to safeguard the students. While the safeguarding was ongoing, Yerima said the army received another distress call that bandits had stormed the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation. He explained that the troops swiftly moved to the scene in the Igabi Local Government Area of the state and decisively engaged the armed bandits to prevent them from kidnapping the staff and students of the school.
4. Billionaire heiress and singer DJ Cuppy became one of the topic for the weekend as she came out to cry for help on balancing her life. Cuppy who was excited about being a student once again and even said she would not give up her music as she school seems to be thinking twice and not know how to pull everything together. “From October, HOW am I going to balance music and being a full-time student at Oxford University? #Epp”, she tweeted dragging a lot of attention, advises and mockery to herself.

9. Some good news came through in Kaduna as some students got rescued following the recent bandits attack in the State. The Kaduna State government announced that a total of 307 students were rescued in a foiled bandits attack on the Government Science Secondary School, Ikara in Kara Local Government Area of the State where the bandits made an attempt to kidnap students again. The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr, Samuel Aruwan who confirmed the news on Sunday said the 307 students were rescued unhurt by the Nigerian troops.
10. Finally, the big news that closed out the weekend – The 63rd Grammys. The 2021 edition of the prestigious awards ceremony went down in and around the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles yesterday 14th March 2021.
