The 39-year-old world, European and league champion Xabi Alonso, will leave his current role as Real Sociedad’s team B coach and head back to Germany where he played for Bayern Munich for 3-seasons to take up the top job as Mönchengladbach manager.

Xabi Alonso will replace Marco Rose, who last month agreed to join Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season after a clause in his current contract was activated.  \"\"

Xabi Alonso during his playing days was regarded as world-class midfielder and widely celebrated for his exploits. The Spanish midfielder started his career at his current club Real Sociedad graduating from its academy and became a first-team member in the next 2 seasons before moving abroad and joined Liverpool.\"\"

Xabi Alonso was part of the Liverpool team that won the famous 2005 Uefa Champions league title coming back from a 3-goal deficit in the second half to win on penalty shootout. He also won the FA Cup with Liverpool, before moving to Real Madrid where he won the UCL title again and the Copa Del Rey title before he moved to Bayern Munich where he won 3 Bundesliga titles

He also won a World Cup and two European Championship titles with the Spain national team. \"\"
