Factual Pursuit of Truth for Progress

President Muhammadu Buhari has confirmed Mohammed Bello-Koko as the substantive Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

In a statement released by the Office of the Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Transport, dated February 15, and signed by the Director, Press and PR, Eric Ojiekwe, the appointment is to take effect immediately.

The letter read, “The President and Commander in Chief of Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has approved the appointment of Mr Mohammed Bello-Koko as the substantive Managing Director, Nigeria Ports Authority. Prior to this appointment, Mr Koko was the Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Authority. This appointment takes immediate effect”.

This effectively means the end of Hadiza Bala Usman’s tenure as NPA boss.

Usman was suspended in May last year over alleged insubordination.

Born on 25th March 1969, Bello-Koko attended the University of Sokoto for his first degree in Management Studies (B.Sc) in 1992.

In 1995, Bello-Koko obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) in 1995 at the Usman Dan Fodio University.

He worked at FSB International Bank Plc and rose to the position of Senior Banking Officer-Senior Treasury Officer, Senior Banking Officer-Energy Sector (ENSEC).

The NPA MD joined Zenith Bank Plc in 2005 as a Manager-Team Head, Public Sector and Large Corporate and attained higher positions.
