Governor Sani Bello of Niger State has said that he has President Muhammadu Buhari\’s blessing to take charge of theĀ All Progressives Congress,Ā pending the ruling party\’s March 26 convention.Ā

Bello took over from Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, who has been presiding over the affairs of the ruling party since the exit of Adams Oshiomhole two years ago.

Daily Trust reported that shortly after taking over, Bello received a report from theĀ partyās zoning committee headed byĀ Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, ahead of the convention.

Speaking to newsmen after taking over, the Niger state Governor said he hasĀ President Muhammadu Buhariās blessing for his new role at the partyās national secretariat.Ā

Bello also disclosed thatĀ he would be coming to the partyās national secretariat āalmost everydayā to discharge his duties.

On why security was beefed up at the partyās national secretariat, he said;Ā

Ā āWell, every time there is a major event, we beef up security.
āToday, we have a major event and all the chairmen came in, so they are to maintain law and order.
āMost of my colleagues are here to support me to receive the report. You know the zoning committee report is a very important one. And all the governors here are here to support me. Now, at the zonal level, they can go and do their work.ā

Secretary of the APC Caretaker Committee, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe told newsmen thatĀ Buni was on a medical trip.
