IPOB lawyer confirms release of ‘Mama Biafra’ from DSS custody

One of the supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ukamaka Ejezie aka Mama Biafra, has been released from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

IPOB lead’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, confirmed this in a series of tweets.

It was gathered that the 80-year-old woman was reportedly arrested during a court appearance of IPOB’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, at the Federal High Court, Abuja on May 18.

Ejiofor tweeted, “I am very delighted to inform you all that Mrs Ukamaka Ejezie (Mama Biafra) has regained her freedom.

“She is now out of the DSS dungeon.”

He added that they were not relenting in their bid to ensure “every prisoner of conscience” is released including Kanu.

“We in the legal team, are doing everything legally permissible to make it happen, we are not resting on our oars at all, be assured,” he noted.
