EFCC Set To Arraign Ogun Speaker

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) may arraign the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, this week over alleged financial crimes.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that the source within the anti-graft agency confirmed this on Saturday.

The source, while confirming to PUNCH, wished to stay anonymous because he was not the commission’s spokesperson, adding that the EFCC is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to arraign Oluomo.

The source said, “We are leaving no stone unturned concerning Oluomo’s matter. He will be arraigned in court in Lagos State on Monday or later in the week, as we are currently preparing charges against him.

“We are arraigning him in Lagos because it is a jurisdiction matter. Some highly placed personalities are doing everything to frustrate his arraignment, but he is expected to explain or defend himself in court on Monday.”

Lifestyle Nigeria earlier reported that Oluomo was arrested by officials of the EFCC at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria last Thursday and flown to Abuja (FCT).

He was, however, granted administrative bail by the anti-graft agency.

According to reports Oluomo was released on the condition that he returns on Monday (today) with both the assembly clerk and the accountant.

He was said to have been on the wanted list of the EFCC following his failure to honour the Commission’s invitation many times.

Oluomo and others were accused of forging signatures and financial documents belonging to the State Assembly.

Meanwhile, the EFCC National and South-West spokespersons, Wilson Uwujaren and Dele Oyewale are yet to say anything about the development.
