2023: PDP Presidential Candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar meets House Of Reps members

As part of his consultations leading up to the launch of a full-fledged campaign council, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, welcomed members of the House of Representatives elected on the party’s platform.

At the meeting, which took place on Tuesday behind closed doors at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, the candidate had the opportunity to inform the federal lawmakers on what he expects from each of them as the elections in 2023 get closer.

It was also gathered that the lawmakers who equally briefed him about their expectations expressed concern over the ongoing feud between him and aggrieved party loyalists sympathetic to the cause of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike. This information was gleaned from gatherings that took place after the lawmakers briefed him about their expectations.

According to information provided to VANGUARD by a person with knowledge of the events that took place, “We spoke openly advising our candidate to speed action on settling the dispute since the longer it goes, the worse it is not only for the party but also for our chances at the polls.”

We advised him that whatever the problems are, they ought to be rectified as soon as possible for the sake of everyone.

“At that time, he turned around and addressed the crowd that he and his staff were working round the clock to deal with the situation, pointing out that a peaceful conclusion was within reach,”

Atilku, who also provided some insight into the topics that were addressed, took to his verified Twitter handle @Atiku and posted the following message: “I just finished a meeting with previous presiding officers and leaders of the House of Representatives in the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.”

“The meeting provided a twofold advantage in that it allowed us to seek their cooperation in developing a grassroots network for our next campaign,”

“The second advantage is that it gives us a legislative glimpse into some of the changes that we are going to be working through. The time we spent together was enjoyable, and I am grateful that so many people were able to come in response to my invitation.

In a separate piece of news, the presidential candidate for the PDP made an announcement regarding the appointment of Mr. Charles Aniagwu, the Commissioner for Information in Delta State, as one of his spokesmen for the 2023 presidential campaign.

This information was included in a press statement that was signed by Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe. According to Ibe, Aniagwu’s appointment takes immediate effect, and he is tasked with a number of responsibilities, including keeping the electorate informed about what is happening in the presidential campaign.

“Aniagwu is a professional broadcaster with over two decades of expertise in the media industry,” said a portion of the statement.

“He joins other appointees who had been announced before as spokespersons to the campaign,” the statement read. “He will be a part of the campaign.”
