Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender, William Gallas, has made some interesting claims regarding Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo’s chances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Messi and Ronaldo will lead their respective countries later in November when the 2022 World Cup kick-off in Qatar.

The duo have been performing on the top level for over 15 years.

However, this year’s World Cup could potentially be the last World Cup for both players as they are at the twilight of their careers currently.

Gallas has claimed that expectations will be huge from Messi and Ronaldo in the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar, adding that the Paris Saint-Germain forward will have the edge over his biggest competitor Ronaldo.

He also added that Argentina is a better team compared to Portugal.

“For everyone, it will be nice to see both [Messi and Ronaldo] players make a big impact. For the fans, people who love football, it will be great to see them on top,” Gallas told Getting Casino.

“But it doesn’t depend on the battle of individuals, it depends on the team. And it looks like Argentina has a better opportunity to go far.”

He added, “I hope we’re going to see them in the spotlight. As a fan you just want to see them leave that competition in the best way.”
