Nigerian Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has been recognised as an ‘Outstanding Georgia Citizen’ by the State of Georgia.
The ‘Unavailable’ crooner attended the State of Georgia General Assembly meeting on Friday, December 1, 2023, to receive the honour.
During the meeting, the speaker introduced him as a U.S.-born citizen, bestowing upon him a special title for his contribution to the state.
The letter of Davido’s proclamation as “Outstanding Georgia Citizen” was
The speaker said;
“We have a special guest today, I’d like to introduce David Adedeji Adeleke also known as Davido, a Nigerian American Afrobeats artist who was born in Atlanta a Georgia native, he’s up in the gallery.
He is a three time nominee of the Grammy award, the BET recipient of the Best International Act, recently performed at our State Farm arena and sold it out, boosting our economy right.
He is a global artist who is promoting fine arts and entertainment which is growing our economy”
Taking to his Instagram page, Davido shared a clip from the meeting with a copy of his proclamation letter. He wrote,
“This morning I attended the U.S State of Georgia General Assembly meeting with the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia State Senate to be recognized as an ‘Outstanding Georgia Citizen’… God is good.”
The letter which was signed by Brad Raffensperger, Secretary of State of the State of Georgia read in parts;
“May this Outstanding Citizen be afforded every courtesy as a Goodwill Ambassador from Georgia in his travels to other states, to nations beyond the borders of the United States of America, or wherever he may hereafter travel or reside. Thank you for your service to our State.”
Davido was born in Atlanta, the capital of the State of Georgia, to Nigerian parents, making him a citizen of Georgia by birth.
