Football fans sent serious warning as Man goes to jail over content

Latest entertainment gist

Football fans and content creators sent huge warning as popular YouTube personality is sent to jail.

In a landmark case, YouTube personality Bill Omar Carrasquillo, popularly known as “Omi in a Hellcat,” has been handed a substantial prison sentence and ordered to pay a staggering £24 million following his conviction for orchestrating one of the largest TV piracy operations prosecuted by the United States government.

Carrasquillo, boasting over 800,000 followers online, was sentenced to five and a half years in prison during a hearing in federal court on Tuesday.

Additionally, he was compelled to forfeit approximately $30 million in assets, including cash and an array of luxury vehicles such as Lamborghinis, Porsches, Bentleys, and McLarens, along with a portfolio comprising over a dozen properties across Philadelphia and its suburbs.

U.S. District Judge Harvey Bartle III emphasized the gravity of Carrasquillo’s actions, cautioning that while tangible possessions hold value, they are not everything. He issued a warning to football fans and Carrasquillo’s followers, expressing concerns that others might be emboldened to commit similar crimes if they perceive impunity.

In response, Carrasquillo expressed remorse to his family, employees, and the TV companies he defrauded through his illicit enterprise. He admitted to underestimating the seriousness of his crimes until his arrest by the FBI, acknowledging that he had disappointed those who trusted him.

Cross River governor announces new minimum wage for workers

Latest entertainment gist

Cross River State governor, Bassey Otu, has announced a new minimum wage of N40,000 for the state workers.

According to the governor, the new wage implementation aligns with the realities of the time in the state rather than sentiments.

Governor Otu, while participating in the Workers’ Day celebration at the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar, revealed that under his administration, the payment of salaries, workers’ wages, and pension entitlements continues to be prioritized as a first-line charge.

“Owing to the peculiarity of Cross River State regarding its lean finances occasioned by low Statutory Federal Allocation and aggravated by the unfavorable State GDP to Debt servicing ratio, the new wage implementation is in line with the realities of the time rather than sentiments.”
