Sgt. Mary Ehiarinmwian, a Nigerian-born American soldier, has been named the 2020 USO Soldier of the Year by the United States.

On the Twitter handle of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, this was announced.

For her act of bravery and heroism, Sgt. Ehiarinmwian, a supply sergeant, received the award when she rescued another soldier in distress from a car accident in Hawaii.

Before going to the U.S. in 2016, she was born in Nigeria and migrated as a child to Germany.
