Ego Boyo, a seasoned Nollywood performer, has issued a dire warning to filmmakers who intend to replicate old Nollywood classics.

This coincides with the current tendency among filmmakers to adapt classic Nollywood films with contemporary actors in the lead roles.

In the recent months, a number of films, including Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, Nneka the Pretty Serpent, Rattle Snake, and most recently “Glamour Girls,” have been produced.

Internet users, however, have complained that the remakes fell short of their expectations and were of poor quality.

Ego Boyo also addressed the subject in a tweet that was published on Twitter. She sternly advised filmmakers to leave Nollywood masterpieces alone and, if they must remake one, to put in the effort necessary to make it worthwhile for viewers.

“#leaveourclassicsalone or at least put in the effort to make them interesting to watch,” she tweeted.
