ADC Constitutes Caretaker Committee

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has constituted an eight-man Caretaker Committee to pilot the affairs of the party.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that this followed the expiration of the tenure of the Ralph Okey Nwosu-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

The Spokesperson for the Dumebi Kachikwu Campaign Organization, Adeniyi Kunnu disclosed this in a statement.

The statement read, “The efforts of the outgone National Working Committee of the ADC to extend its stay in office has finally met its Waterloo, as the Forum of Chairrmen across the country today inaugurated an Interirm technical committee.

“It must be recalled, that on August 22, the erstwhile chairman of the party Chief Ralph Nwosu had called an emergency meeting of the NWC in violation of Article 23(a & b) 2018 of the ADC constitution as ammended and quickly foisted his plot to extend his stay in office alongside those who were in cahoots on the extension.

“It must be categorically stated, that this illegal extension happened six days before the terminus of the Nwosu led administration which has continued for seventeen unabridged years.

“In accordance with Article 24 of the ADC constitution of 2018 as ammended, it is through a substantive National Working Committee that an extension could be granted, and especially so at a National Convention through which such a National Working Committee must have emerged. Chief Nwosu has therefore faltered on two layers of the ADCs grund norm.

“In light of the lacuna on the effective expiration of the Nwosu led administration, it therefore behooves the most legitimate leading body of the party, being the Forum of State Chairmen, to fill the void, by inaugurating an interim technical committee thus keeping the party functional ahead of the campaigns, leading to the most important elections come 2023.

“In this regard, the Interim Technical Committee would be headed by:

1. Honourable (Mrs) Patricia Akwashiki …Chairman

2. Honourable Kennedy Odion … Secretary ( Chairman Edo State ADC)

3. Lady Angela Johnson (Member)

4. Professor Kabiru Isa ( Member)

5. Honourable Kingsley Temitope Oga (Member)

6. Ibrahim Manzo ( Member)

7. Honourable Ilesanmi Omolayo (Member)

8. Barrister Emmanuel Dibia ( Legal Adviser)

“The public is by this missive notified, that every dealing with the African Democratic Congress should forthwith be routed through this interim technical committee so as to avoid being misled, misquoted and misguided.

“The ADC is a party that recognizes the role of the rule of law and the need to keep to the provisions of that law in guiding the party.

“We are a party that seeks to begin our charity of leadership from home, showing the exemplar needed for the best interest of the country.”
