Amb. Sara Abdul Bags Royalty Humanitarian Woman of The Year Award, As Organiser Opens 2022 Nominations

The Executive Director, Shamies Foundation, Sara Abdul has received the award of Royalty Humanitarian Woman of the Year in the recently concluded African Royalty Award 2022.

The award ceremony had earlier taken place at Merit House in Abuja but due to her absence from the country, she was not present to receive hers.

The Project Director of African Royalty Award 2022, Amb. Duke Bassey on Sunday led a delegation Abuja PR Expert AlexReports, Red Carpet host Nneka Benjamin to present the award certificate and plaque to her at her Abuja residence.

Receiving the award, Amb. Sara expressed gratitude to the organisers for finding her worthy of the honour, pledging that her foundation will continue to lend support to enhancing human living conditions across Nigeria.

In his response the Project Director Amb. Bassey said the organization will continue to recognize eminent Nigerians who commit their resources and time to better the lots of others.

He used the opportunity to announce that nomination has commenced for this year’s edition of the award which will take place at Sheraton Hotel Abuja.

Amb. Sara’s Shamies Foundation, aka. Shamies Unusual Heart Foundation, is an Abuja NGO with a mission to rehabilitate, empower and reintegrate ex-convicts into the society.

The organization does this through a wide range of advocacy, representation, trainings and support programmes.

The Foundation says it has over the years carried out various medical and humanitarian outreaches and sponsored the release of awaiting trial inmates in major prisons across Nigeria.

Tariff Hike: Tribunal Orders Substituted Service As Multichoice Evades Bailiff – Lifestyle Nigeria

A Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT) sitting in Abuja has granted an application for substituted service of the interim order, restraining Multi-Choice Nigeria Limited from its plan to increase tariffs on DStv and Gotv packages beginning From May 1.

The three-member tribunal, presided over by Saratu Shafii, granted the applicant’s motion following allegations that officers of the pay-TV firm in Abuja office refused to receive service of the order and other court documents.

The applicant, Festus Onifade, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that the CCPT bailiff alleged that one of the company’s top managers at the Abuja office said the documents be channelled through their Lagos office, which is the headquarters.

The tribunal, therefore, gave the order of substituted service pursuant to Section 48 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA), 2018; and Part N, Order 14 Rule 11(1) of the CCPT Rule, 2021.

In the certified true copy of the order of substituted service, Shaffi directed that the ex-parte order in suit number: CCPT/OP/2/2024, be pasted at the corporate headquarters or any known address of the branches of the Multi-Choice Nigeria Limited across Nigeria.

She also ordered that the documents be sent to the company’s “known email address, social media handles and any means of communication publicly known for Multi-Choice and shall also be pasted in the CCPT communication outlet.

The documents had since been pasted at the Multi-Choice Abuja office located at Wuse II.

NAN reports that the tribunal had, on Monday, stopped MultiChoice from increasing its tariffs and cost of products and services scheduled to begin today.

Remi Tinubu Commends Nigeria’s Workforce For Dedication And Innovation

First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has appreciated the significant contributions of Nigeria’s workforce, especially for its dedication and innovation.

A Nigerian teacher has gone viral after he posted his female student’s beautiful Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result.

The teacher, while stating that his journey as a mathematics and physics teacher has been spectacular, shared a photo showing the scores of one of his students who sat for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). 

The man identified on X as @timothyicon_ expressed his excitement that the student whom he personally tutored for the 2024 examinations made him proud. 

According to him, the student got an aggregate score of 316 in the just-concluded exams, with 95 in his subject.

In the photo he displayed showing her UTME results, it was confirmed that the girl scored 73 in English language, 95 in physics, 71 in biology, and 77 in chemistry.

He tweeted: “Below is the Jamb Result of one of my students that I tutored for the examination. She scored 95% in my subject. My journey as a physics and mathematics teacher has been nothing short of spectacular. Sincerely, teachers are undervalued in this country.”

Many who were amazed at the teacher’s post, showered praises on the teacher and did not hesitate to request for his service.
