APC NWC Voids Screening Of Edo Guber Aspirants – Lifestyle Nigeria

The National Working Committee, NWC of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has put a spin to the reported plans by the Edo State chapter of the party to prune the aspirants in the race for the party’s governorship ticket and with it, voided the screening of the aspirants as inspired by the state caucus.

The party in a statement at the weekend said that its Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the Election are available for purchase and collection to all interested aspirants.

. reports that the assertions of the NWC is against the move by the Senator Adams Oshiomhole led state caucus that has pruned the number of aspirants to six.

The move has led to uproar with some tendencies in the state expressing outrage over the elimination of some of the party’s more formidable aspirants including Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and General Charles Airhiavbere.

Mr Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary in a statement at the weekend said screening and clearance of aspirants would be undertaken by a committee to be constituted by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), in accordance with its Constitution.

“As stipulated in the released APC timetable and schedule of activities for Edo gubernatorial election, all interested aspirants are to make prescribed payments into the party’s approved bank accounts.

“They are to collect their Expression of Interest and Nomination forms from the party’s National Secretariat,” Morka said.

The assertions by the APC NWC counter the screening of the aspirants by the Professor Julius Ihonvbere-led committee as inspired by the Edo State caucus leader, Senator Adams Oshiomhole. That move reportedly led to the pruning of the aspirants to six from 29, a move that the APC NWC has now voided.

Umahi Flags Off Demolition Of Landmark Beach For Coastal Highway Project – Lifestyle Nigeria

The Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, on Saturday in Lagos, flagged off the demolition of a section of the Landmark Beach, the Mami Chula Beach Lifestyle, to give way to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

Umahi began the demolition after he inspected kilometres 13, 16 and 20 to ensure the most economical and viable way to access the coastal roads without much damage.

He noted that the demolition was necessary since the landmark centre was located on Federal Government’s Right-of-way.

He stressed that a number of structures would be affected by the demolition, adding that compensation would be provided.

Umahi said, “So with the utmost fear of God, gratitude to God Almighty and the commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in our infrastructural development agenda in particular, I wish to flag off this demolition.

”It’s in a right-of-way within the coastal corridor which is legitimate right of way of the Federal Government.

“Before the flag off of the demolition of landmark, I graciously increased the grace period by another seven days and yet another four days and here we are because the project stopped because of lack of demolition.

“And I want to commend the likes of Bolaji, incidentally from kilometre zero to four from what I’m seeing, he is the only one that is majorly affected. That’s the only infrastructure I can see that is affected.”
