Asisat Oshoala joins the AFCON banter

Latest entertainment gist

Asisat Oshoala has some wicked sense of humor and the AFCON tournament might have just shown fans how funny she is.

If the AFCON tournament hasn’t brought fans the excitement yet, perhaps nothing might cut it out for them.

Africa’s apex Cup tournament ever since its kickoff has not only brought to screens some shocking results but has also left fans sitting on the edge of their seats while glued to their screens.

For Super Falcons’ star, Asisat Oshoala, her own fascination with the tournament has been the woes of opposition teams such as Nigeria’s derby neighbor, Ghana who currently sit 3rd in Group B after Monday night’s clash versus Mozambique.

The Black Stars as a result of the machinations of fate and their own performance, saw themselves crash out of the competition despite initially leading with a 2-goal margin against their opponent.

Taking to her Twitter page to indulge fans in the banter, the Barcelona Femeni star quickly welcomed fans to join in on trolling Super Eagles’ derby rivals after the Ghanaian national team conceded 2 late goals to draw level on points with Mozambique.

Oshoala didn’t stop at trolling just the Black Stars alone, as she had a word or two for the hosts, Ivory Coast who were stumped 4-0 on home soil by Equatorial Guinea in Monday’s group stage clash.

Writing about the match, Asisat Oshoala trivially asked if the Cote d’Ivoire president was going to demand a restart of the entire AFCON tournament.

The Super Falcons star would want to hope the Super Eagles go farther in the competition or risk facing a host of rival fans trolling her page in the eventuality of Nigeria’s defeat in the knockout stages.

Tension flares as Manchester United squad turn on Rashford

Latest entertainment gist

Tensions reportedly simmer within the Manchester United squad as players express their discontent with Marcus Rashford following his recent disciplinary breach.

The 26-year-old forward was notably absent from United’s 4-2 victory over Newport County, with the club initially attributing his non-participation to illness.

However, subsequent developments revealed a different narrative, as United disclosed an “internal disciplinary” matter involving Rashford.

The player admitted responsibility for his actions, leading the club to address the issue internally and consider it closed. Despite the disciplinary incident, Rashford remains available for selection in United’s upcoming clash against Wolves on Thursday.

According to reports from the Mail Online, Rashford’s teammates are displeased with him due to his lapse in discipline.

Allegedly, senior players within the squad are frustrated after learning that Rashford had visited a club in Belfast the night before missing a training session at Carrington on Friday morning.

The revelation about the real reason behind Rashford’s absence, particularly before a crucial FA Cup tie against Newport, has reportedly irked fellow players. The FA Cup represents Manchester United’s primary opportunity for silverware this season.

An unnamed source stated,

“The players were told he was too ill to train, and then it came out that he’d been in the nightclub. They couldn’t believe that he would do that given the situation the club is in.”

While it remains unclear if Rashford faced additional consequences from manager Erik ten Hag, the Dutchman possesses the authority to impose fines on players. In Rashford’s case, a two-week wages penalty could amount to approximately £630,000.

This incident marks the second time in just over a year that Rashford has faced disciplinary action. Previously, he was excluded from the starting XI against Wolves on December 21, 2022, for arriving late to a team meeting.

Rashford also had to issue an apology to Ten Hag earlier in the season after hosting a birthday party shortly after United suffered a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.

At that time, Ten Hag condemned the behavior as “unacceptable” and addressed the matter with the player.

“My image of Liverpool has been equal to that of a team managed by Mr. Klopp. What he has built has epitomized the Liverpool of recent times.”

The Japanese star expressed that it will feel strange to see the German no longer the head coach of the Liverpool team as he considers the modern day Liverpool as the face of what Jurgen Klopp built.
