BanOpen Grazing In South-East Within 14 Days Or ESN Will , Send Message to South East Governors

South-East states have been granted an ultimatum to ban open grazing.

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, made this public as he said that such a ban would avoid the danger of Fulani herdsmen.

He said that before things go out of hand, the five South-East governors should implement the 1969 Anti-Grazing Law in the area.

In the Middle Belt and southern part of Nigeria, Kanu said this against the backdrop of the incessant alleged massacres committed by Fulani herdsmen.

He said this on Thursday by means of a press release signed by himself and made available to SaharaReporters by Emma Strong, IPOB’s media and advertisement secretary.

All open cattle grazing in the area was suspended by the South-West Governors on Monday. Night grazing and herding of cattle by underage children was also forbidden by the Yoruba governors.

The drastic action came during a meeting that followed an earlier quit notice order given by the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu and an activist and businessman based in Oyo, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, to Fulani herders to vacate Ondo forest reserves and Ibarapa region of Oyo State after massacres, kidnappings, rape cases and destruction of farmland in the Oyo State.

“The bold step taken by Yoruba governors in banning open grazing in their region is commendable and, as such, must be reciprocated and consolidated by a similar pronouncement in the East,” Kanu said, responding to the action of the South-West governors.

We want to humbly and most submissively call on all the governors of the East to ban, as a matter of urgency, all types of open grazing in the area in accordance with Nigeria’s statutory law of 1969 that prohibited Fulani herdsmen from such provocative and primitive practice.

If there is no strong and effective action by Eastern governors to prohibit open grazing in our country after 14 days, ESN will step into the breach to begin implementing this 1969 Anti-Grazing Law throughout the region. Don’t say that you haven’t been told or given advance warning.
