The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed Senator Heineken Lokpobiri’s appeal challenging the emergence of David Lyon as the candidate of the APC for the 2020 Bayelsa state governorship election.

The apex court dismissed the appeal for lacking in merit.

In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Inyang Okoro, the highest court in the land  held that the lower court was right in its decision as Senator Lokpobiri filed his petition outside 14 days allowed by law.

A five-man panel of the court insists that the cause of action complained about by Senator Lokpobiri occurred on the 4th of September 2020 and not 7th as claimed in his petition which was clearly filed out of time.

Lokpobiri had approached the Supreme Court, claiming that he is the winner of the APC Bayelsa governorship primary held on 4 September, 2020.

He claimed that the party wrongly gave the ticket to Lyon who eventually contested and won the governorship election.

Tinubu Approves N12bn To Clear Sports Debts To Nigerian Players, Coaches – Lifestyle Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has taken a significant step towards resolving Nigeria’s sports debts by approving the payment of N12 billion, which includes outstanding dues owed to the national teams, notably the Super Eagles.

The financial burden and sports debts inherited by President Tinubu, had long troubled the Nigerian sports community, sparking concerns about the welfare and stability of the national teams.

Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, announced the approval, lauding President Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to supporting the national teams.

The allocated funds are intended to clear various debts, spanning unpaid salaries for senior national team coaches, outstanding allowances, entitlements, and promised payments owed to senior national teams, female teams, and the Under-20 national team.

This move signifies a positive shift in addressing the financial challenges plaguing Nigeria’s sports sector, instilling hope for improved conditions and renewed support for the country’s athletes and teams.

. reports that the approval by the president is expected to be a moral booster for the sports community given the history of embarrassment caused by the indebtedness of Nigeria to both coaches and players.

Many coaches have walked out on Nigeria and in some cases, some who otherwise would have come have declined because of the history of debts owed coaches by Nigeria, an eyesore that the step taken by President Tinubu is expected to erase from the face of sports.

ECOWAS Lifts Sanctions On Niger And Other Junta-led Nations

Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has removed the economic sanctions imposed on Niger Republic, Burkina Faso, Mali and Guinea.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that the Chairman of ECOWAS and Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, on Saturday, said the decision was based on humanitarian considerations, especially because of the Lenten period and the approaching month of Ramadan.

Tinub spoke at the extraordinary summit of ECOWAS on the political, security, and peace conditions held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The regional bloc, however, said the political and targeted sanctions remain.

The West African bloc had in a swift response to the military coup in Niger, enforced a no-flight zone over the country.

The Nigerian government also cut off the power supply to the military-ruled country to persuade the juntas to restore democracy in the country.

Tinubu, according to a statement by his Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, said: “Everything we did was in hopes of persuading our brothers that there existed a better path, a path that would lead to genuine improvement of their people’s welfare through democratic good governance. And this was a path each of our nations had solemnly agreed with one another pursuant to formal regional treaty and protocol.

“However, the sanctions that we contemplated might help lead our brothers to the negotiating table have become a harsh stumbling block. In my mind and heart, that which is hurtful yet ineffective serves no good purpose and should be abandoned.

“When the pain hits, I’m unable to function for days”

Latest entertainment gist

Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite shares the real reason she is currently wearing a neck brace.

In a well detailed caption, she wrote, “This is me post physiotherapy & Harassed and in some pain For over a year, I’ve had an excruciating pain in my neck, literally. When the pain hits, I’m unable to function for days”

“I  have been on the strongest of pain killers for too long. They numb the pain for a bit and it’s back to business as usual. And of course with neck pain, comes migraines. It has been hell. I started physiotherapy over a week ago and I have noticed the pain is less. I have only taken a pain killer once since then. If you know me well, this is a big deal! I am not supposed to lift weights for at least 3 months or do any kind of strenuous activities. This part is so hard for me but I’m determined to do anything to get rid of the pain. In the mean time, I have to wear this beautiful neck fashion accessory a couple of hours a day, so if you see me outside with it, don’t be afraid. Lol

All in all, I’m grateful. Whatever we are going through, it could be much worse. When you hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up”

In her explanation, Damilola Adegbite mentioned that she wasn’t mean to do any strenuous activity, including lifting weights for the next three month, and she stated that it would be hard for her, but she would do anything for the pain to go away. Her concerns about weight lifting are understandable because, she is a fitness enthusiast, who constantly visits the gym, and shared her workout routine online. Damilola Adegbite’s amazing physique is a testament to her dedication to living a healthy lifestyle.

Apart from posting gym content, Damilola Adegbite has quite a calm social media presence, where she showcases and promotes her work as an actress. However, there was a little glitch in peaceful virtual existence, when she roused dating rumors on the internet with actor Bolanle Ninalowo. The duo had been cozying up in each other’s comment section, and this made some netizens believe that they were dating. These rumors had escalated because Bolanle Ninalowo had recently being divorced, so a lot of watchful eyes were on him, while Damilola on the other hand has been divorced for quite a number of years now. However, neither of them addressed the rumors and as such, they quelled down a bit.
