Buhari Presents Integrity Award To Police Officer Who Rejected

President Muhammadu Buhari has presented the 2022 Public Service Integrity Award to Daniel Itse Amah, a police officer who rejected $200,000 from a robber.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that Amah led the operation that resulted in the arrest of Ali Zaki, a suspected robber involved in the theft of N320,500,000 in Kano state, Northern Nigeria.

Zaki in an attempt to cover up the crime reportedly offered to bribe Amah but he rejected it.

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Bolaji Owasanoye recommended Amah for the award in a letter dated September 13, 2022.

At an event on Tuesday in Abuja, Buhari asked Nigerians holding public offices to emulate the police officer.

The President said, “We need to kill corruption for Nigeria to move forward.”

The spokesman of the Kano Police Command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, described Amah’s work ethic as “outstanding”.

Amah is currently the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Nasarawa division in Kano.
