Celeb Backed Bail Org Shuts Down After Suspect Bails Out and Shoots Vegas Man

Latest entertainment gist

An organization that helps people bail out of jail — and supported by big celebs — has shut down after getting sued by a man who was shot days after the shooter was released on bail … bail posted by the org.

The Bail Project has a list of big celebs behind it, including John Legend, Danny Glover and Richard Branson.

The Bail Project posted $3,000 bond for Rashawn Gaston-Anderson last December.  He had been arrested on burglary charges and had a long rap sheet, including attempted grand larceny, carrying a concealed weapon, felony burglary and auto theft … this according to 8NewsNow.

Six days after being released on the $3,000 bond, Gaston-Anderson shot a Las Vegas man, Chengyan Wang, 7 times.

Gaston-Anderson copped a plea on charges of attempted robbery, mayhem with enhancements for using a deadly weapon. He was sentenced to 7-18 years.

Wang, who apparently has permanent injuries, is now suing The Bail Project, claiming it did not do due diligence before posted bail for Gaston-Anderson.  The Clark County D.A. who prosecuted Gaston-Anderson said, “One can say, in a sense, they are vouching for the person.”

“They are damaging English football” — Pochettino

Latest entertainment gist

Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, expressed vehement criticism towards the Update Assistant Referee (VAR) system following Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Blues found themselves trailing by two goals in the first half but managed to stage a comeback, leveling the score in the second half.

Axel Disasi believed he had secured the winning goal with a header, only for VAR to intervene and disallow the goal. This decision ultimately left Chelsea settling for a draw. With this result, Chelsea currently sits in 9th place in the Premier League standings with 48 points.

In a post-match statement, Pochettino stated,

“Two different things: the referee said it was a foul and disallowed the goal and then went to the VAR to confirm. The referee is unbelievable and it’s ridiculous. It is difficult to accept these types of things.”

He went on to reference previous contentious VAR decisions, including one in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, which further fueled his frustration.

Wife gets court summons for son’s DNA test |

Latest entertainment gist

Omowunmi, the wife of Ilerioluwa Aloba, Nigeria’s late musician professionally known as Mohbad, has received the court summons for her to carry out a DNA test to confirm the paternity of her son, Liam.

The Eagle Online recalls that a Magistrate’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos had given the order for substituted service on her.

This followed the inability of court bailiffs to serve the summons on Omowunmi personally.

According to available information on Saturday, the summons was affixed to the gate of the last known address of Omowunmi.

This followed the application filed by the legal team to Joseph Aloba, father to the late singer, which sought an order to serve Omowunmi by posting all the originating processes and other processes in the suit on her last known address.

A statement signed by a member of the legal team to the Aloba family, Monisola Odumosu, confirmed this.

According to the statement, the legal team, led by Emmanuel Oroko, had argued that the sheriff had attempted twice to serve Omowunmi the court process but failed.
