Duduke To Da World! Simi Becomes 1st Nigerian To Go Double-Platinum

When Simi released a piece of art dedicated to her first fruit, Adejare, who was at the time still on her way to earth, titled Duduke, everyone knew there was something so special about the song.
In a couple of days, Duduke became Nigeria’s unofficial anthem, going from a song of love to one’s child to every other loved ones and saw a massive online streaming. Not only did the song pin Simi’s sonorous voice and imagination in the heads of listeners but the song has made her the first and only Nigerian artiste to go double-platinum.The Recording Certification of Nigeria (RCN) announced this in a tweet, stating that Duduke is its only multi-platinum video so far. The music video has been viewed over 3 million times on YouTube NG – the only music video to cross the 3 million mark in the last three years according to RCN data for Short Form Video Certification which dates back to 2020. RCN classifies a video into Gold if it pushes 2,500 units, Platinum if it does 5,000 units and Multi-Platinum if it does 10,000 units. Duduke, however, pulled 10413.74 units.

In the announcement tweet, RCN congratulated Simi for the piece, as well as the producer, Oscar, the music video director, Adasa Cookey, her label, Studio Brat and the distribution platform Jungle for the record broken and made. “‘Duduke’ is the only RCN multi-platinum video so far.
