EFCC detains Ondo governorship aspirant, Wale Akinterinwa

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Ondo State Wale Akinterinwa.

He is being held in connection with the ongoing investigation of his tenure as Commissioner for Finance in the defunct Akeredolu administration.

Until the State Executive Council was dissolved by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who succeeded the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Akinterinwa served as commissioner for over seven years.

The aspirant is being investigated for alleged mismanagement of billions of Naira, a source said.

Although Akinterinwa participated at the weekend direct primary from detention, EFCC said the timing of detention was at its discretion and choice.

According to sources, Akinterinwa was invited some weeks ago by the anti-graft body for interaction on some allegations, but was “allegedly too busy” to honour the invitation.

He, however, showed up at the anti-graft commission’s office on Thursday.

Prince Odi Okojie, husband of beloved Nollywood star, Mercy Johnson has charged Nigerians to check on the mental health of their loved ones after his wife at the weekend became the subject of witchcraft allegations raised by Nollywood giant, Angela Okorie and a lady who claimed to be a childhood friend of Mercy Johnson.

Prince Okojie who married Mercy Johnson in August 2011 came out on his Instagram page to snub the accusations against his wife raised by Angela Okorie who made damming allegations of negative spiritual and witchcraft allegations against his wife.

He wrote: “Pls endeavor to check on your loved ones, mental health is real. Mad people everywhere”.

. reports that the response from Rep Odi Okojie came after the blistering weekend allegations of witchcraft raised against his wife, Mercy Johnson of that centered on her allegedly seizing the destinies of fellow Nollywood stars.

The uproar began after Angela Okorie came out on a joint Instagram live session with another user, Mrs Ijeoma who claimed to be a childhood friend of Mercy Johnson as they recounted allegations of spiritual manipulation bordering on witchcraft against Mercy who remains a darling of many Nigerians.

Mrs. Ijeoma, weighing in on the issue, revealed her purported friendship with Mercy from their childhood days and shared an unsettling experience that she believes confirms Mercy’s alleged involvement in witchcraft.

According to Mrs. Ijeoma, she was once summoned by Mercy Johnson’s late mother, who engaged in a ritualistic exchange of clothes and performed occult acts.

This encounter, she claims, marked a turning point in her life, alleging that she ceased to receive favors and faced hindrances in her Nollywood auditions, which she attended alongside her childhood friend.

Nigeria’s 4x400m Relay Teams Qualify For Paris Olympics

Team Nigeria has earned two automatic tickets to the Paris Olympics at the ongoing World Athletics Relay Championship.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that Nigeria picked up berths for the mixed 4×400 meters and men’s 4×400 meters relay races in the Bahamas in the early hours of Sunday.

The mixed relay team, which comprises Chidi Okezie, Ella Onojuvwevwo, Esther Joseph, and Samuel Ogazi, achieved the feat when they breezed a season-best of 3:13.79s.

Nigeria finished second behind the US, who clocked a championship record of 3:11.52s, in heat two and secured a ticket to compete in Paris in July.

The best two teams from each heat of every discipline qualify for the World Relay final and earn an automatic ticket to the Olympic Games.

A few hours later, Okezie anchored Nigeria’s men 4×400 meters relay team to another Olympic ticket.

The 30-year-old completed the efforts of Sikiru Adeyemi, Dubem Nwanchukwu, and Dubem Amene and finished second behind Belgium in heat two.

Saraki Remembers Former President Yar’adua 14years After

Former Senate president, Bukola Saraki, has remembered the former president, Umaru Musa Yar’adua, 14 years after his death.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that Saraki In a post via his X handle on Sunday, May 5, remembered honoured the memory of his friend, while thanking him for his service to the nation.

He wrote: “Every year, on the 5th of May, when the nation pauses to honour the memory of our late President, His Excellency, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, I take some time to reflect on the memory of my friend.

“Today, I remember what he stood for and how he worked towards it. I remember his focus on building strong institutions—so that the very DNA of our democracy would be founded on laws and best practices, not on the whims of men.

“I also remember his unfinished work, and how we must all work together—regardless of where we stand—to actualize his dreams of a better Nigeria.

“Today, as we honour the memory of my friend, my brother, and our former President, we thank him for his service to our nation. And we pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) will continue to grant him a place amongst the righteous ones in Al Jannah Firdaus. Ameen.”
