Newcastle United ensured Manchester United continued their poor run of form, beating them 3-0 at Old Trafford to progress to the quarter-final of the English Football League Cup.

The Magpies also exerted their revenge on the Red Devils, who defeated them in the final last season. It was their second victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford since 1972.
First-half goals from substitute Miguel Almiron and Lewis Hall, his first for the club, were followed up by a solo effort from Joe Willock on the hour to give Newcastle their biggest away win over their hosts in 97 years.
It was another bad day for Erik Ten Hag’s side, who have lost eight of their opening 15 games for the first time since the 1962-63 season.
Diogo Dalot and Brazilian midfielder Casemiro did not re-appear for the second half, with Ten Hag evidently unimpressed by their displays.
