Fire Guts Alaba Market in Lagos

A fire outbreak has been reported at the Alaba International Market in the Ojo area of Lagos state.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that Adeseye Margaret, director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, said an angry mob is preventing the firefighters from quelling the inferno.

“Report reaching Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service indicates shops at the popular Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos are on Fire. However, Fire Crew from Ojo, Sari-Iganmu, and Ajegunle are being turned back by angry mobs from performing their statutory duty but fire fighting trucks are presently on standby. The agency is consequently collaborating with Security Agents to address it.” Adeseye said

Reports gathered that the fire started in a shop where gas cylinders were stored before spreading to other parts.

The fire is said to have affected mainly the shanties used as shops in the market.

Alhaji Gabam also commended the government for the measures it was taking to ensure the stability of the naira and improve the economy, saying that the nation would rise again with the political will to mention the current efforts aimed at fixing the nation for the betterment of the Citizens

According to him, “I know as a matter of fact that the level of crime and criminality, kidnapping, maiming and barbarism have drastically reduced. Most of the gang leaders that have been responsible for kidnapping people have been eliminated, arrested or under prosecution.

Man Jumps Into Lagoon ‘After Being Accused Of Stealing Cements’

A man simply identified as Azeez has reportedly jumped into the lagoon in Lagos state, Southwest Nigeria.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that the incident was said to have occurred on Friday morning at the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge.

Lagos state command police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident.

Hundeyin said the director in charge of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) operations in Lagos central, reported the case at Ikoyi.

Hundeyin said when a rescue team arrived at the scene, they met the lifeless body of a man who had drowned.

“The deceased was later identified as Azeez. He was later confirmed dead by paramedics of Pre Hospital Care, Lagos,” Hundeyin was quoted as saying.

“It was discovered that one Elijah Amos, the seller of the cement, was pursuing the deceased before he jumped into the Lagoon because he was alleged to have stolen some bags of cement.”
