Gay Nigerian man recounts his horrific \’kito\’ experience

A gay Nigerian man has recounted the horrific moment when he was \”kitoed\”.

Kito is an internet slang that explains when a person pretends they are queer on social media and dating apps just to build an online rapport with a queer person with the aim of extorting them or causing physical harm to them when they finally meet on a date.

Although this happens to all genders, gay and bisexual men are targeted most frequently.

A number of Nigerian men have been victims and sometimes share their experiences only on closed gay groups for fear of being judged by non-members of the LGBTQ community.

A particular victim took to Twitter to recount his experience and this led other gay people to speak up too.
