I would have moved my mother out of Bayela if Diri had lost the governorship election – Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan says he would have moved his mother out of Bayelsa State if Governor Duoye Diri had lost the governorship election held last weekend.

Jonathan who paid a congratulatory visit to Diri in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, on Friday, November 17, said insecurity would have been worse if Diri had lost.

He said;

“We don’t want to go into unnecessary crisis in the state. Results have been declared and we believe the election was conducted. We believe the governor won the election and we plead that people should accept it and work with the governor. Let all of us support him so that the state will move ahead.

“There should be nothing that will push the state backwards. We should think about the development of the state starting from the issue of peace and security in the state which within this last period, three years plus, there are significant improvements in terms of cultism and kidnapping and so on and so forth.

“I was saying before this election that if Diri loses this election, I would have relocated my mother to Abuja. My cousin was kidnapped two times on one of those occasions, one of my cousins, Solo, was killed because they threw him into the river and he didn’t know how to swim.

“So, we’ve passed through hell in this state and we’ve seen a little light at the end of the tunnel. So, people should calm down, and allow Diri to focus on governance so that he will be able to propel this state forward so that we will benefit as citizens of the state.”

Why The Witch-hunt? By Fatima Oiza Muhammed

Why The Witch-hunt? By Fatima Oiza Muhammed

As a Kogite from the Central Senatorial District of Kogi State (The Same Senatorial district Yahaya Bello is from), I can’t sit and SEE misinformation been spread everywhere as it relates to the current faceoff between the EFCC and Yahaya Bello.

I have read lots of articles and watched many interviews where people were alleging that the EFCC is witch-hunting Yahaya Bello and that the EFCC Chairman is been used by some persons in the presidency to fight Yahaya Bello..

As a kogite and a sister to Yahaya Bello who knows almost everything about this case, I have to let the world know the truth..
First of all, I would love to state that I love my brother Yahaya Bello.. I also love my people from the Central Senatorial district more than anyone else from any other senatorial district or state..

I am unapologetic about this.. However, no matter how much we love each other where I come from, there are certain acts that we all condemn and forbid.. Real Ebira Men or Women are not thieves.. We detest stealing so much that even if the thief is my twin brother, I will not hesitate to call him out and report him to the society.

We are courageous and truthful people. If an Ebira man or woman is falsely accused of stealing, they will courageously come out to clear their names because if they do not, the stealing tag will be attached to their loved ones and their generations yet unborn..

What Yahaya Adoza Bello is doing right now offends the core values of the true Ebira culture.. Guilty or not, Yahaya Bello is expected to courageously answer the allegations against him.. No matter who wants to “persecute” him, as a former Governor and a member of the Ruling party, if he is innocent, he will walk free except of course he is not.
