IGP Orders Full Enforcement of Covid-19 Health Protection Law 


The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, ordered the Assistant Inspectors-General of Police in the seventeen (17) zonal commands and their constituent Police Commissioners in the thirty-six (36) States of the Federation and of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Abuja to fully enforce the 2021 Health Protection Regulations for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) signed into law.

In a press statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer Frank Mba, the operatives in their respective areas of responsibility are required to ensure full compliance with the regulations.

The IGP gave the order to the Strategic Police Managers, following the President’s directives as contained in the Health Protection Regulations 2021 of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), which mandates the Nigeria Police Force and other government agencies to ensure full enforcement of the regulations in public places, places of worship, workplaces and schools, banks, public t

Noting that the uncertainty and risks created by the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic have placed additional responsibilities on the general public, the IGP urges citizens to voluntarily comply with the provisions of the Safety of All Regulations.

In addition, the IGP cautions officers to enforce the laws to demonstrate tact, compassion and empathy with citizens.

Adamu reiterates that officers must be firm and professional, while remaining polite, civil and respecting citizens’ fundamental rights.
