I’m Ready To Work With Tinubu, Says PDP Lawmaker

Lifestyle Nigeria gathered that the Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker representing Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North, Oyo state, Anthony Adepoju, has said that he is ready to work with President, Bola Tinubu, even though he is elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

The lawmaker said this while speaking on Kaftan TV on Tuesday, noting that he is after the growth and development of the country.

“What I am after is the development of Nigeria. And the president we have is who we should work with. At this point, Tinubu is our president and I am ready to work with him.

Adepoju also stressed that he contested to become a lawmaker to help solve the problem of his constituents, particularly in the area of power supply.

“If we are not satisfied with how things go, there are two options to be done. One is we keep mum and be expecting God will do it and the other is to strive and make sure there is a transformation in the situation. The other option is what I chose and the reason why I contested,” he said.

One step forward, two steps back
He noted that the poor power supply has made many people leave the constituency for other areas, noting that this was affecting the growth of the communities.

“Part of the things I was not satisfied with was the shortage or non-availability of electricity supply which has made many residents leave the constituency for other parts of the state and other nearby states.

ASUU begins indefinite strike in Nigerian varsity

On Thursday, May 2, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) University of Abuja chapter has commenced an indefinite strike.

Dr. Sylvanus Ugoh, Chairman of the Branch, acknowledged the event, saying the resolution was made during a congress meeting held at the institution’s Permanent Site.

Platinumpost reports that members of the UniAbuja chapter of ASUU have been at loggerheads with the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrasheed Na’allah and the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman over the processes for the appointment of a new VC.

An advertorial that surfaced in a national daily on March 15, 2024, sought a replacement for Na’Allah.

However, ASUU members, in a conference, rejected the ad, declared it “illegal,” and stated that it was not from the governing council.

Ugoh noted that the Universities Miscellaneous Provision Act 1993 as amended; 2003 and 2012 (Section 3, subsections 1 and 2) empowers only the governing council to advertise the VC’s seat when declared vacant.

“You will recall that the university administration placed an advert on the vacancy of the post of a Vice-Chancellor on Friday 15th March 2024,” Ugoh had said.
