IPOB issues warning to Deputy Reps Speaker, Kalu

Latest entertainment gist

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has warned the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, to stop using the name of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu to for his political interests.

IPOB said Kalu should stop deceiving Nigerians about agitating for Kanu’s release.

The deputy speaker cautioned that the South-East could not pressure the Federal Government to release Kanu by implementing the sit-at-home exercise.

However, in a statement by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, on Wednesday, IPOB said Kalu was only using Kanu for his selfish interests.

Parts of the statement read:

“The attention of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU has been drawn to the continuous and frequent use of IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s ordeal to pursue his political interest by the Deputy Speaker House of Representative Hon. Benjamin Kalu, which has no result. He should stop deceiving the public with the persecution of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“They are damaging English football” — Pochettino

Latest entertainment gist

Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, expressed vehement criticism towards the Update Assistant Referee (VAR) system following Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Blues found themselves trailing by two goals in the first half but managed to stage a comeback, leveling the score in the second half.

Axel Disasi believed he had secured the winning goal with a header, only for VAR to intervene and disallow the goal. This decision ultimately left Chelsea settling for a draw. With this result, Chelsea currently sits in 9th place in the Premier League standings with 48 points.

In a post-match statement, Pochettino stated,

“Two different things: the referee said it was a foul and disallowed the goal and then went to the VAR to confirm. The referee is unbelievable and it’s ridiculous. It is difficult to accept these types of things.”

He went on to reference previous contentious VAR decisions, including one in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, which further fueled his frustration.
