Nigerian talented singer, Joeboy has finally released his long anticipated debut album and we are at the edge of seats listening to the beats. He dropped his first ever album on the 4th of February, 2021 titled Somewhere Between Beauty And Magic.\"joeboy\"The 14-track album takes us on a journey to discover the hidden side of Joeboy that we are yet to know about and also the beauty and magic he speaks about.
On the track, Count Me Out, Joeboy mixed a bit of clap beat and and his usual style producing a very good combo. This track just seems to be a test run as it lasts for just 1minute 48seconds.
In Focus we see Joeboy tell us of his love interest that is not opening up to him and how he finds this difficult to handle. The beats do not necessarily stand out, but it is okay.
In Number One, from the moment you hear the first sound you just know that this is Joeboy. He may not have spent 5years in the music industry, but he has been able to create a signature tone for which we know him by. Songs like Police, Door, Show Me, Runaway possess similar themes which centers around relationship, love and ladies. They all have this serenity about them that will make you sit and listen to them from top to bottom. On these tracks, Joeboy is able to pass across the knowledge that he has come to understand his style, his form and who he set out to be. The uniqueness of the beats on these tracks make them stand out and its only a matter of time; they actually have the potential to be hit singles. \"\"One of his hit singles Lonely, on this album is just on point. You can’t listen to this track bearing in mind the title of the entire album and question why this song, and Celebration are hit singles.
In Consent, Oshe, OH, Better Thing he makes use of a recurrent unique beat and instrumentals from beginning to end. Its that kind of beat that when you hear anywhere even without the lyrics, you know instantly that its Joeboy. That kind of beat that makes you unconsciously start to nod your head.
Joeboy doesn’t lose track of the message he is trying to pass across from the first track to the fourteenth track. Ending the album with Celebration is the perfect track because he indeed has done something that deserves to be celebrated. We are now aware of the fact that he has found a niche for himself and he is building himself in that sphere.\"\"Final Thoughts
There is no how you will listen to this album, joining the dot from one track to another and you will not see Somewhere Between Beauty And Magic. You just have to. He captured the right title for his debut album. This album might not be a dancehall and hip hop kind of album, but this is the album that makes up for what dancehall and hip hop albums lack. Listening to this album, connecting the dots from the first to the last track, I bet you will be able to draw a map of that place that is between beauty and magic that he is talking about. If you want to listen blues, R Kelly kind of blues of old, Joeboy can serve as a good substitute to help you achieve that.\"\"Photo Credit: Getty
