Keep working For Nigeria’s Betterment, Osinbajo Urges Nigerians

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has urged Nigerians who share the same vision for a better nation to continue working for the progress of Nigeria despite the challenges bedevilling the country.

Prof. Osinbajo, CWG.ng learned, stated this Tuesday while interacting with members of the PYO Collective who were on a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa.

The PYO Collective is a group of journalists and writers who are inspired by the Vice President’s leadership style and his disposition to governance.

The group of 25 journalists and writers led by a veteran journalist, Mr Richard Akinnola, were at the Villa on a courtesy call on the Vice President following the public presentation, on Monday, of the book titled “Osinbajo Strides: Defining Moments of an Innovative Leader”, which they wrote in his honour.

Speaking about his hope and motivation for a greater nation, Prof. Osinbajo said “no matter our disappointments, because we love this country, we must keep working at it because love is persistent. All of us who believe in this country must stick together and we must keep working for the good of our country, day by day.”

The Vice President commended the drive and imagination of the group, endorsing all of its ideals and vision for Nigeria.

He said many are interested in this Nigerian project but not everyone is prepared to take the trouble to do what is right and to join groups, just to see how these things about making Nigeria great can happen.

Said he, “but the truth is that we are all in this same boat. Many times, we just give up and some may wonder ‘Is the country cursed? But then the next opportunity, we are there hoping and praying that this country works.

Despite Irregularities, 2023 Elections Reflected The Will Of Nigerians – US Report

 

 

Lifestyle Nigeria gathered that the 2023 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices by the US has revealed that the Nigeria’s last year’s general election which produced President Bola Tinubu reflected the will of the electorate despite widespread irregularities.

According to the report, the supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) intimidated voters and suppressed their votes in Igbo-dominated areas of Lagos, during the March 2023 governorship election.

This was revealed in the report published by the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labour, US Department of State, stressing human rights practices and violations in different countries, including Nigeria.

“National elections were widely reported to have reflected the will of voters, despite technical and logistical difficulties, and some irregularities,” the report stated.

“Many independent observers assessed the results of the presidential, legislative, and state-level elections during the year reflected the will of voters, despite reports of voter suppression and vote buying, campaigning at polling stations, lack of ballot secrecy, violence, and intimidation.

Lagos Probes Indian School Accused Of Denying Nigerians Admission – Lifestyle Nigeria

The Lagos State Government has initiated an investigation into allegations against an Indian Language School in Ilupeju, Lagos which exclusively admits children of Indian nationals.

The state government emphasized the possibility of closing the foreign school if the investigating team if the school is found to be at fault.

Meanwhile, the state government stated that at least 12 private schools were closed within one year due to various infractions.

Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, spoke during the Ministerial Briefing on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term anniversary at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, warning of possible closure for the Indian Language School if found guilty.

Responding to media reports, Alli-Balogun emphasized the state government’s potential enforcement measures against the Indian school in Ilupeju, where Nigerian children are refused admission due to their non-Indian nationality.

According to him; “Officials of the state Ministry of Education have visited the school and investigation is being deepened to ascertain the veracity of the report.

“I can assure you that an appropriate action will be taken against the school if the investigation team found the school wanting.

“At the end of our investigation, if the school is found culpable, it would be shut down.”

Nigeria Is Well Positioned To Power Europe’s Clean Energy Future — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu says Nigeria is well-positioned to power the clean energy future of Europe and the world with its high-grade lithium deposits.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that Tinubu said this while speaking during a meeting with Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands at his official residence, known as The Catshuis in The Hague, on Thursday.

There is excellent value-additive opportunity in Nigeria. The world knows us for oil. They will soon know us for greater innovative exploits in other areas.

“We have an extremely dynamic youth population in Nigeria. It is a young country. 70% of our people are under the age of 30, and when we are referring to 200 million plus citizens, it represents both a massive workforce and a massive market for Dutch and other international investors.
