King Charles Set to Use Herbs (Agbo) As Opposed To Chemotherapy

In an interesting development, King Charles may be set to use herbs (agbo) as opposed to Chemotherapy to treat his recently diagnosed Prostate cancer.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that according to a Royal expert, King Charles has reportedly always argued against Chemotherapy, and is in fact an advocate for things like natural herbs and potions.

His association with Dr. Michael Dixon and the Faculty of Homeopathy adds another layer to his preference for alternative medicine.

Although speculative, the Royal expert revealed that King Charles is likely receiving medical advice and consultations from Dr Micheal Dixon, who is the chair of the Royal Medical Household and has also been in charge of The Kings own natural alternative medical institute.

In 2019, King Charles was granted the titled of Royal Patron of the faculty of homeopathy, which is a collective of medical professionals who are also advocates for pseudoscientific forms of medicine.

JAMB Will Not Release The Top Scorers’ Names In The 2024 UTME – Registrar

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has disclosed why the examination body wouldn’t announce the names of the highest-scoring candidates in the just concluded 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

He stated this during a press briefing in Bwari, Abuja on Monday, recalling that hitherto, the Board had been unwilling to disclose its yearly top scorers.

Oloyede said this is due to the avoidance of “a repeat of the Mmesoma saga,” while the board also considers the UTME as “only a ranking examination,” among other reasons.

Mmesoma Ejikeme, a UTME candidate from Anambra State, was embroiled with JAMB in 2023 when she claimed to have scored 362 out of a total of 400.

Upon investigations, the examination body barred her from taking the UTME for three years and also withheld her results.

For this year’s results, over 1.94 million candidates registered and sat the examination in 118 towns and over 700 centres across the country, while 77 per cent scored less than 200.

The JAMB Registrar stated, “It is common knowledge that the Board has, at various fora, restated its unwillingness to publish the names of its best-performing candidates, as it considers its UTME as only a ranking examination on account of the other parameters that would constitute what would later be considered the minimum admissible score for candidates seeking admission to tertiary institutions.

CBN Stops OPay And Others From Onboarding New Customers

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed four fintech companies, namely OPay, Palmpay, Kuda Bank, and Moniepoint, to halt the onboarding of new customers until further notice.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that this directive comes after allegations of illicit foreign exchange transactions linked to these fintechs.

Two of the companies have confirmed to Nairametrics that the directive is related to these allegations. However, representatives from the affected companies have noted that the majority of the implicated accounts belong to commercial banks, not fintech platforms.

Lifestyle Nigeria earlier reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently secured a court order to freeze at least 1,146 bank accounts owned by various individuals and companies allegedly involved in illegal foreign exchange transactions.

Most of the bank accounts involved are deposit money bank accounts, and the EFCC has cited the need to preserve the funds in the identified bank accounts pending the conclusion of the investigation and possible prosecution. The other offences under investigation by the EFCC involve money laundering and terrorism financing.

A copy of the court order for the blockage of the accounts shows that most of the accounts involved in the alleged illegal forex trading were commercial bank accounts.

However, the banks have not been directed to stop onboarding new customers. This has raised concerns within the fintech industry, as they feel that the CBN is unfairly targeting fintechs, while the majority of the implicated accounts belong to commercial banks.
