Lagos Bye-Election: LP Sends Stern Warning To Aspirants – Lifestyle Nigeria

The Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State has read a riot act to all aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket ahead of the Surulere Federal Constituency I bye- election, slated for August 19.

The party, at a news briefing on Friday evening at its state secretariat in Ikeja, cautioned the aspirants against patronising illegal factions for the purchase of expression of interest and nomination forms.

Speaking, Pastor Dayo Ekong, the Lagos State Chairperson of LP, told newsmen that the party was committed to justice and fairness and would organise credible primary to produce candidate capable of winning election.

According to Ekong, there is a departure from the old order in party administration and processes to give everyone a deserved voice.

“The LP State Working Committee is standing distinct to make sure that the old order is removed that the new order is put in place.

“It is not about who you know but your competence and capability should count. If you are bale to showcase what you have, you should be recognised.

“You don’t need any god-father to be relevant in the chapter but making yourself distinct. Nobody’s voice will be suppressed,” Ekong said.

“I want to sound a note of warning because we know some people are parading themselves as Labour Party executives, there is only one Lagos State LP State Working Committee.

“If any aspirant falls prey and purchases form from these illegal groups, he or she does it at his or her own peril. Be warned, don’t fall victims of their antics,” Ekong said.

Beauty Queen, Chinenye Andrew has concluded plans to unveil to the public and officially launch her deeply researched book titled, “African Teen”.

EFCC How Far! Nigerians Discovers New Pattern of Spraying Money During Occasions (SEE Update)

 

 

Lifestyle Nigeria gathered that Amid the EFCC assault on naira abusers, some guys have devised a novel method of’spraying’ money to evade prosecution.

The EFCC has already detained Bobrisky and Cubana Chief Priest for misusing the naira.

After pleading guilty, the former of the two celebrities received a 6-month prison sentence.

Some guys who are concerned about getting caught by the EFCC have devised an alternative method of raising funds at their event.

The celebrant is shown dancing near a large wooden box into which people are dropping money. The footage was uploaded on Twitter.

Rather than throwing it on the ground or at the celebrant, they took out notes and tossed multiple bundles into the box.

Currency Mutilation: Mixed Reactions Trail Update Of Couple’s Customised N200 Notes (SEE Update)

 

Lifestyle Nigeria gathered that a Update circulating on social media on Sunday has revealed N200 notes customised with the picture and names of a couple.

The N200 notes labelled “Wedding Republic of Nigeria” in place of the “Central Bank of Nigeria,” bears the date 26-03-2023, along with the names, Emwinghare and Adazee.

You could Recalled that the Central Bank of Nigeria has strict regulations against tampering with the country’s currency, deeming it “mutilation” and punishable by law.

However, this customisation has drawn mixed reactions from netizens. While some condemned the act as a form of naira abuse, others praised the idea.

Reacting to the Update, an X user, olutayo_richard, wrote, “Any act capable of snowballing into widespread naira counterfeiting should also be outlawed, along with naira mutilation.

“Why do people have to display naira spraying as a way of giving cash gifts rather than bank transfers or cash envelopes?”

DannyI05900085 commented, “Naira should not have been printed on the note at all. It could have been 200 only without naira inscription. This is far worse than mutilation. This is a case of fake notes.”

Another tweep, Onlineguru_, claimed, “A lot of Clubs do this.”

JesseNwokoma seemed to praise the idea as he wrote, “Just transfer the worth of what you want to spray, and they give you this, I think it makes sense.”

MRBabaKEN also commented, “This is perfect. Spraying money in events is part of our culture that cannot be erased.”

The apprehension surrounding the spraying of naira comes in the wake of recent legal actions taken against individuals, including controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest, for abusing the national currency.

It was also reported on Saturday that the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, recounted her recent experience at a birthday party, stating that everyone at the party, including her, was afraid to spray the naira..

The report included that it is illegal to spray banknotes at events; and anyone caught tampering with the naira note will face legal consequences, as stated in the CBN Act Section 21.

It also stated that dancing or stamping on naira banknotes is prohibited by law, and selling currency banknotes is illegal.
