Looking Beyond The Hypocritical Controversies

Year after year, the Big Brother ‘BBNaija’ Naija reality TV show is faced with so much criticisms, controversies calls for close up and many more, and the basis for all of these is simple – it is an immoral show which teaches and exalts immoralities, as well as shift the focus of Nigerian youths from the serious matters in the nation.

Many that hold this belief, do so with the attachment of religious values to the many negative convictions flying around. Many have not ever taken time to see a few scene in the show but feed on what they have been told, heard and the general perception that is out in the air.
When a purpose of a thing is not known, abuse, they say is inevitable. Until people begin to see the real purpose and reason the show, then people will still continue to hold these perspectives blindly, which, to me, is purely hypocritical and nothing else.\"BBNaija:

From the business aspect, BBNaija is someone preferring a solution to a few of the many problems the Nigerian government cannot and may not be able to solve, in exchange for money. Many have left the BigBrother house richer, becoming stars and celebrities, their names and strides going across other nations, having people who would lay down their lives for them, and much more than the rest, their businesses and career booming and taking new shapes. All of these, the government cannot proffer to the citizens, not because it is unwilling to, but because it simply cannot.

The highest a government can do is give grants, loans, scholarships or appointments in parastatals, many of which will not bring the rich human networking and relationships. In return, the BBNaija organizers get a huge traffic and views to their television and social media platforms, sponsorship from companies, all of which in turn, converts to some wealth. The companies sponsoring also gets to register their brands in the eyes, brains and minds of millions of people, many of whom will eventually become customers. Money inflow increases, brand grows and continues to be TOMA, and everyone is happy one way or the other.\"BBNaija:

In entirety, does the BBNaija reality show recommend that people must get sexual and romantic, be drunk, keep malice, become a slut, lose their home trainings, lack senses? Of course NOT! Yes, you need to be a spice in the House and be lovable for you to keep being there, but you necessarily do not need to be come inhumane and immoral to do that. Many Housemates have been on the show with so much focus and manners, and still get loved and eventually win – Laycon, the winner of the 5th BBNaija edition is a perfect example. Until people begin to realize that immoralities and inhumanity is a function of an individual and not the show in entirety, then, they will forever be hypocritical. If there ever was a Christian who has a very good relationship with God on the show, I double if he or she will ever be stopped from saying prayers, preaching the gospel and walking head high in all godliness.

Speaking of romance and love, for ever and ever, there is no way two people of opposite sexes will be close, getting personal and not grow some feelings at one point or the other. If not, how do some single church members tell their issues to their opposite sex clergies and end up being their spouses or (if clergy is married) their co-adulterer? Humans are social beings, God himself is the author of socialization and feelings – when He was to create man, He sought the coming together of others. The bridge, however, is self-control and self-discipline, which is also a function of an individual, not the show. You do not expect that human beings be locked down together in the same space for weeks without many other distractions and not grow feelings. It is, however, the duty of whoever grows feelings to put it under control so as not to get immoral or, as many say, embarrass their generation on live TV, in the presence of millions of people.\"BBNaija:

God and the Biblical clergies understood feelings, emotions and the thin line between them and immorality clearly, which is why they recommend fleeing fornication, mortalising the members of one’s bodies, guarding one’s heart, getting married rather than lusting and fornicating, amongst the many others. These are still, functions of the individual and not the show. It is safe to say human are the ones who do not have morals and manners, and not the show. After all, Big Brother doesn’t have a special gadget or space for immorality – all that is in the BBNaija House is present in many people’s house. Of course, Housemates live by some rules in the House, but they also enjoyed some level of free will or better still, liberty, they were not told to have sex, neither were they told to. “Train up a child the way he should go”, “do not present your members (bodies) as instruments of unrighteousness to sin” are both not a functions of BBNaija.

Many of the parents criticising the show for immorality have adult offsprings who do so many things behind the scenes. Just because some certain people’s lives are brought to the screens suddenly makes everyone a judge of morality, forgetting to remove the speck of dusts in their eyes. This does not in any way mean I am asking people not to condemn irregularity. As a matter of fact for me, wrong and ungodly acts should be condemned without mincing words, most importantly, if God bids it unacceptable, it definitely is not acceptable. But these condemnations are not to be linked with the show – they are to be linked with individuals who obviously the one perpetrating the acts.\"BBNaija:

While the narrative that youths desert the serious matters of the nation for the three months, following the activities on BBNaija, gluing to their TV screens, social media pages, phones and not paying attention to political and administrative issues of the nation is good, it is actually needless. When the time for actions, these young people were everywhere, many losing their lives, many others risking theirs to ensure their voices are heard. Eventually, many of them are still in prison, getting bails in thousands and millions of naira without anyone coming to their aid. What then is the big deal if they do something that makes them happy, keeps them entertained and help them to maintain sanity?

Again and again, until people begin to define and different between the show and the people therein, then there will continue to be hypocritical controversies surrounding the show. Whichever way, nothing succeeds without controversy. Many of the greatest ideas, even Noah’s ark built of divine instruction, the coming and death of Jesus Christ all met criticisms and disbeliefs, so this, should not be surprising. Until every Saul of the BBNaija reality show sees the reality, we leave them to it.\"BBNaija: \"BBNaija: TRENDING VIDEO OF THE DAY: Top 7 Richest Black Sports Women In The World
