The South East chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of nigeria (MACBAN) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to put the naira redesign policy on hold until his successor is in office.
Alhaji Gidado Siddiki, the leader of Miyetti Allah in the zone, said that the current rise in the pump prices of petroleum products, especially premium motor spirit (PMS), and the shortage have caused Nigerians a lot of trouble. He also said that putting in place the new naira notes would make the situation unbearable for the people.
Siddiki said that the redesigned naira notes are the work of some politicians who work in and around the Presidency and want to make Buhari look bad in the last few months of his term.
He asked the president to put the policy on hold as he did with the RUGA settlements project under the National Livestock Transformation Plan in 2019. This is because Nigerians are unhappy with the way things are going in the country right now, right before the general election.
Sidikki said that the change to the naira’s value has made it worth very little in the international community.
“As I speak to you now, Nigerians are putting all the blames on Buhari, because he is the president. Similar situation happened in 1984, when he was the military head of state and there was a lot of anger and hatred against him. And now it has happened again in his democratic administration. The person or group of persons that sell this idea to Mr. President, does not love him,” he stated.
