Mohbad’s Royalties Issues Can’t Be Addressed – PMAN

Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has said the royalties issue of Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad can not be addressed.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that PMAN’s President, PMAN, on Wednesday, said the process of managing royalties for Mohbad music would pose a challenge for the association because he was not a member of the association.

Okafor disclosed this when he appeared before a House of Representatives Committee on Justice investigating the death of Mohbad in controversial circumstances.

Since the death of the 27-year-old singer on September 12, 2023, several videos of alleged harassment and intimidation by his former record label, Marlian Music have gone viral.

The PMAN President, while addressing the members of the committee lamented the failure of new singers to join the association, adding that the benefits of membership are huge, including resolving contractual issues between musicians and record labels.

Okafor said, “We engage the Music Managers Association of Nigeria. We engage the record label association of Nigeria, and we also engage the artistes. That is why it is difficult to manage the crisis that has erupted now.

“Some of them believe that PMAN is archaic. Some of them believe that it is only for old people. Some of them, the record labels manipulate their psyche not to make them stay under the authority of PMAN. That is why this kind of crisis has emerged.

“So, if we reach out to the record label association, they will need to reach out to their artistes. They must be a member of PMAN so that we can protect their interests and also protect the interest of the record label owners because they are supposed to get certification from PMAN.”

Umahi Flags Off Demolition Of Landmark Beach For Coastal Highway Project – Lifestyle Nigeria

The Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, on Saturday in Lagos, flagged off the demolition of a section of the Landmark Beach, the Mami Chula Beach Lifestyle, to give way to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

Umahi began the demolition after he inspected kilometres 13, 16 and 20 to ensure the most economical and viable way to access the coastal roads without much damage.

He noted that the demolition was necessary since the landmark centre was located on Federal Government’s Right-of-way.

He stressed that a number of structures would be affected by the demolition, adding that compensation would be provided.

Umahi said, “So with the utmost fear of God, gratitude to God Almighty and the commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in our infrastructural development agenda in particular, I wish to flag off this demolition.

”It’s in a right-of-way within the coastal corridor which is legitimate right of way of the Federal Government.

“Before the flag off of the demolition of landmark, I graciously increased the grace period by another seven days and yet another four days and here we are because the project stopped because of lack of demolition.

“And I want to commend the likes of Bolaji, incidentally from kilometre zero to four from what I’m seeing, he is the only one that is majorly affected. That’s the only infrastructure I can see that is affected.”
