The organizers of the show the MTV Base MAMA Awards came out on Friday to release a statement where they stated that the postponement of the event was due to the “current health and safety challenges” the world is faced with at the moment.

It further said, “After careful consideration, MTV Base is concerned that the current health and safety challenges will significantly jeopardize the ability of the campaign to continue to achieve its objectives.![\"\"](\"https://i0.wp.com/koko.ng/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/MTV-MAMAS-KOKOTV-NIGERIA.jpg?resize=486%2C272&ssl=1\" "\\"MTV")
“MTV Base will keep fans posted. The 2021 MAMA Kampala is a virtual event. Strict adherence to health and safety protocols as specified by WHO has been adhered to throughout the production process.”
