In order to quickly attend to rumours flying around about a purported release of Maryam Sanda, who allegedly killed her husband, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) dismissed the rumour as untrue insinuations, adding that she was not among those granted presidential amnesty last week.
President Muhammadu Buhari had granted some people over 2000 amnesty as part of the plan to decongest the over-congested prison across the country.

The service in a statement signed by its spokesman, Deputy Comptroller, Augustine Njoku, maintained that there was no iota of truth regarding the rumours making the round that she has been set free.
iDONSABI reported that Sanda, who Sanda was arraigned alongside three others including her mother and brother, was sentenced to death by the FCT High Court for killing her husband, Bilyaminu Bello on November 19, 2017.
But the others were discharged by the court because the prosecutor was unable to link them to the murder.
The late Bello was the son of former PDP national chairman, Dr Haliru Bello while Sanda is the daughter of former manager of a microfinance bank.

So, this means that Sanda who is a nursing mother was not among the 70 inmates at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, who were granted presidential pardon. Njoku stated that she was not granted pardon because she was not qualified for it.
