News Update?Kabiru Gaya: APC’ll win Kano in 2023

Latest Politics updatein nigeria

Senator Kabiru Gaya has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win Kano in the 2023 general elections.

Speaking to newsmen in Kano, Gaya, who represents Kano South, noted that the New nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) will not be a threat to the victory of the ruling APC.

The 70-year-old, who has been in the senate since 2007, allayed fears that APC might lose Kano State with the emergence of Rabiu Kwankwaso’s NNPP.

He explained that the NNPP is nothing but an offshoot of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Kano is strictly between the ruling APC and the split PDP.

“In Kano, we have two political parties. The APC and the PDP. The PDP split into two with the Kwankwassiyya forming NNPP. We still have only APC and PDP in Kano. So I am optimistic APC will win Kano in 2023,” he boasted.

The former Governor agreed that his main challenger for the Kano South, Kawu Sumaila of the NNPP, is pulling a crowd but remained hopeful he will return to the Senate for the fifth time.

“Kawu is doing well, but I have more crowd than him, and I believe I will win the election,” he said and advised politicians to desist from plans to buy votes at the 2023 polls.

Gaya, who is the Senate Committee Chairman on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), warned that vote buying and any other form of money politics will not work during next year’s general election.

He advised desperate politicians not to waste their time on money politics because, “with the passing of the Electoral Law 2022, that act (vote buying) is over.”

“In Kano APC, we are united; we know who is who when its comes to politics. All those making noise are a bunch of hired crowds of hangers-on. But when the chips are down they will chicken out and you will know who actually owns Kano,” he said.
