Notorious leader of outlawed Yansakai group arrested over murder of 40-year-old man in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested the leader of a proscribed group, Yansakai, in connection with culpable homicide.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Mohammed Shehu, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, May 6.

\”On 3rd May, 2022, DPO Bukkuyum Division responded to a distress call from Tungar Dutsi Community in Gana district of Bukkuyum LGA that some members of the outlawed group popularly known as \”Yansakai\” from Tungar Bido Village led by its notorious leader Bala Minister, invaded Tungar Dutsi village armed with locally made guns/other dangerous weapons in the name of Sallah Celebration and started shooting sporadically, causing panic and fear within the community,\” the statement read.

NLC, TUC Present New Minimum Wage Demand Of N615,000 – Lifestyle Nigeria

The President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Festus Osifo, has said that the body has presented a new minimum wage of N615,000 jointly with the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC to the tripartite committee working out a new wage structure for the country.

Mr Osifo who said this while speaking with journalists on Friday in Abuja, however, said that the much-awaited new minimum wage may not be announced on May 1 as expcted.

”The negotiation by the Tripartite Committee is still ongoing. If you remember, the TUC earlier submitted N447,000 as the new minimum wage but we have harmonised our figure with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

“It is now N615,000. Regarding the when for the new minimum wage, the committee is still working.

“So, certainly, May 1, will not work for the pronouncement of the new minimum wage. Except if the federal government wants to pay the minimum wage of N500,000 to workers,” he said.

He, however, said that the N615,000 demanded by the labour unions is not sacrosanct.

”The government also has its markup and so conversations and negotiations will start and end somewhere,” he said.

He also noted that before the labour unions arrived at that amount, a proper study was conducted.
