A factional governorship candidate of the PDP in Ogun State, Otunba Segun Showunmi, has vowed to fight the ongoing battle for the party’s ticket to the end.
He said he was confident that at the end of the struggle, which is already before the courts, and with the first victory at the Court of Appeal on Monday, he would emerge the authentic candidate of the PDP in Ogun State in the next few weeks.
The Ogun State chapter of the party is enmeshed in a crisis as two factions conducted primaries leading to the emergence of two governorship candidates in the state.
Showunmi, who was the spokesman for the campaign office of the PDP presidential candidate in 2019, told newsmen yesterday in Abuja that it was necessary to clarify issues considering the barrage of calls and deep interest of the public on the matter.
He said, “I want to put it on record that no one can intimidate me into conceding defeat where I am the winner. I will fight this battle to the end and will be on the ballot.”
