The Ogun State Government refuted allegations that the Dapo Abiodun-led administration misappropriated funds allocated to the state’s local governments.
Wale Adedayo, the chairman of Ogun State’s Ijebu East Local Government Area, charged the governor with misappropriating the statutory federal allocation owed to the local governments of the state over the previous two years.
In a letter sent to the former governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, on Sunday, Adedayo said that the governor had misappropriated approximately N10.8 billion from the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme.

The LG boss claimed that the 10 per cent of the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, which the constitution also stipulates should go to the local government had not been given since Abiodun got into office.
But debunking the claims in a statement on Tuesday, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Lekan Adeniran, said contrary to reports, the Abiodun administration had often augmented the funds allocated to local governments in the state from the federation account to enable them to meet their obligations.
