Petrol tanker explodes in Onitsha (photos/video)

A petrol tanker exploded in Onitsha, Anambra state this morning, January 28.

According to residents, the accident was caused by bad portion of Obodo Ukwu junction in Onitsha.

 

Many shops and buildings around the scene are feared burnt as the fire from the explosion continues to expand.

 

The fire which started at 8.30am had caused a long standstill of vehicles in and out of Onitsha.

 

Fire service both from Anambra and Delta states have arrived the scene and are battling to quench the fire amid a shortage of water.

Hilda Baci’s Mother, Chef Fatima, Unicorn Holdings Agrotec, Irenita Nneka Eze, Others To Be Honoured At African Stakeholders Conference On Food Security

Stakeholders in the food industry, including Mrs. Linda Brown, mother of Hilda Baci the Guinness World Record holder, Chef Fatima, Chef Stone, the President Farm & Infrastructure Foundation (FIF)Professor G. B. Ayoola, Unicorn Holdings Agrotec, Transcorp Hilton Abuja, Irenita Nneka Eze, Mrs. Hope Onome Alex and others will be honoured at the 2023 African Stakeholders Conference On Food Security, Nutrition and Hospitality. 

Organisers say the conference fosters a cross-cultural diplomacy and collaborations between policy makers, investors, Government Agencies, Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Researchers, CSOs, NGOs, Chefs,  restaurateurs, and culinary experts to exchange knowledge and deliberations on creating solutions to identified challenges across board.

“The conference provides an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic ties and collaboration between other continents and Africa in the fields of food security, nutrition, hospitality, agriculture and tourism. 

“It is also a tool for cross-cultural diplomacy and collaborations between policy makers, Government Agencies, Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Researchers, CSOs, NGOs, Chefs,  restaurateurs, and culinary experts to exchange knowledge and deliberations on creating solutions to the identified challenges across board”, the convener Amb. Nsikan Paul said in a statement. 

The Conference features the Africa Food Heroes Awards, which recognizes and celebrates Stakeholders, hotels and lounge owners, food vendors, food processors, food journalists, farmers, suppliers, water/drinks/ beverages manufacturers, and government agencies who labour to ensure that we achieve Goals 1, 2, 3 & 17 (No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good health and Wellbeing, and Partnership for the Goals, respectively) of the SDGs, the statement added. 

Amb. Nsikan Paul calls on everyone to join them as they bring together thought leaders, experts, and visionaries from across the continent to tackle the most pressing issues in the food industry.
