Factual Pursuit of Truth for Progress

THE Founder of the Niger Delta Volunteer Force, Asari Dokubo, has vowed to hold back the Kalabari area of Rivers State from getting into the hands of Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo, a former militant leader.

In a covert deal, the Federal Government signed a N4.5bn monthly pipeline surveillance contract with Tompolo. He is to protect the oil pipelines and facilities in the Niger Delta from invaders.

However, Dokubo, who also has interests in oil in the region, said in a video now viral that it is greedy of Tompolo to be in charge of pipeline protection for all the ethnic groups in the Niger Delta.

He vowed to stop Tompolo from being in charge of the surveillance contract for the 83km pipeline crisscrossing his Kalabari area in Rivers State.

“You will take pipeline contract in Delta State your place and then you come to Kalabari to take another one saying you are an Ijaw man because you are the only one that knows how to eat.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) announced the result on Sunday amidst controversy of irregularities during the voting process.

The results were announced at the Conference Hall of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, Agodi, Ibadan.

After the presentation of the results from all the 33 local government areas where elections took place, the OYSIEC Chairman, Mr Isiaka Olagunju, affirmed the results and declared PDP victorious.

There are, however, complaints from some local government areas about irregularities noticed during the electoral process ranging from lateness of materials and personnel to non availability of necessary material in some.

There are allegations that election did not take place in some wards from Ibadan North, Ibadan South West, some parts of Saki in the Oke Ogun axis of the state among others.

While thanking all electoral officers, party agents and security agents who participated in the process, Olagunju acknowledged the fact that there are areas of improvement to be worked on, noting that detailed report of the election would be presented to the state government as soon as it is ready.
